Australian Alps holidays Our holidays in the Snowy Mountains are usually held at Thredbo or at the Horizons Resort, Jindabyne. They feature hand analysis and a lesson in the morning, then play in the afternoon and/or evening. When at Jindabyne, we may spend a morning cruising Lake Jindabyne. With beautiful Kosciuszko National Park nearby, most players chose to take time off from the bridge sessions to visit some of the natural attractions. |

Pacific sky cruises Our ship, the Pacific Sky, has its own 15-table card room. The ship features an extensive and popular entertainment program, tasty food, and of course the great company of your fellow bridge players. And with most cruises visiting Pacific islands, there is plenty of opportunity to revel in delightful weather!

In the section below, we will put photos from some of our most frequent cruise destinations.
This photo is taken from the hill behind Champagne Bay, the beautiful cruise stop on Espiritu Santo, largest island in Vanuatu. Champagne Bay has a beautiful white sand beach, while the nearby Blue Lagoon is a tranquil spot with crystal clear fresh water. |
Vila, on the island of Efate, is the capital of Vanuatu. We often go out as a group, visiting Le Lagon Hotel from where you can get a ferry to nearby Erakor Island. We also stop at a lookout with a spectacular view of the area, and we visit town for some duty free shopping. When possible, we organise a bridge game with the locals. |
Yasawa-I-Rara is a remote Fijian island. It has a long, unspoilt beach, friendly people, and if you swim out a bit, has coral and lots of fish. |
Lautoka is Fiji's second city, but not far out of town is the Abaca National Park which can be visited and explored by the adventurous traveller. |
Dormie House Moss Vale holidays Dormie House has the charm of a country guesthouse, overlooking the golf course, with the modern comforts of a very well looked after establishment. Join us on our annual visit! |
Jamberoo holidays Jamberoo Valley Lodge, with its convenient facilities, is the main venue for our coaching breaks and is also used for some of our play breaks. Its trademark peacocks are a delightful touch! |

This cruise, in December 2000, went to Vila, Lifou and Noumea, then back to Sydney. It was the inaugural bridge cruise on the newly-arrived P&O ship Pacific Sky, and was led by Derrick Browne, Paul Lavings and John Newman. We had a very congenial group and (at last) a ship with its own card room! In Vila we had our own group tour, visiting a village, then Le Lagon resort with the option of a trip to Erakor Island, then a lookout over the area, and finally a stop downtown. In Lifou there was a beautiful beach plus a chance to snorkel or to stroll up to a hilltop church with a spectacular view. Noumea has more developed attractions, including the Tjibaou Cultural Centre (pictured). Written below are our event winners. Pictured are our group as we wave farewell to our cruise adventure! |

Bowral at Tulip Time
This friendly holiday weekend was held in October 2000 and included a day touring the delightful gardens in the area. Pictured at right is one of the garden areas at Kennerton Green. There was plenty of bridge, too, and the main prize of a return weekend was won by Margaret Ahrens and Elizabeth Pelly. |

Top End Cruise
This holiday, from 8-19 August 2000, was fully subscribed with 50 participants. Our ship, the Norwegian Star, went from Darwin to Broome, then on to the exotic Indonesian islands of Bali, Lombok, Flores and Komodo. Here are a few pics.

Our bridge group toured Bali, stopping here at Kintamani. |
In Lombok, we stopped at a pottery market and met these kids. |

Jamberoo This holiday, held at the end of July 2000, featured a coaching theme. There were lessons and practical play sessions, though sometimes the resident peacocks vied with the instructors for attention. There were also duplicate sessions, featuring hand records. Our photographer interrupted these two students, who were working hard at the end of a session. |

Xmas in July
We celebrated Christmas in July at Dormie House in Moss Vale. On Wednesday 27th, our annual Southern Highlands versus The World competition saw a win for The World. On Thursday night we had our "Christmas" dinner. A cheer went up when it started snowing - the ultimate dream of these events in the southern hemisphere winter, a white Christmas! The next day was sunny and gorgeous, but there was still a little snow on the ground (see photo). |
