Trumps Bridge Centre

We run a special offer on beginner lessons: five 2-hour lessons for just $59 (+ $1 if using credit card), with a practice session and textbook (Beginners' Bridge) included, as well as our "beginners' special" offer on membership. No experience necessary and you don't need a partner. As the leading teaching club, we have supervised sessions and lessons to continue the developing process and we now offer after-course Beginner Training.

Thursday evenings from 4 March (to 1 April), 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Trumps.

Improvers course Tuesdays, 7.30pm to 9.45pm with John and Derrick from 2 February (to 30 March, with no lesson 16 March) 2010 at Waterbrook Greenwich.

Ideal as a refresher or consolidation course, these lessons cover the most important issues for developers. How to make decisions; Stayman; Suit openings and Blackwood; Responder shifts; Rebids; Overcalls; Doubles; and Pre-empts. Plus a card play tip and four practice hands with each chapter.
8 weeks for $95 (or $80 for members), or $14 ($11 for members) a lesson.

 

There is also Improver training (9.45am Wednesdays at Trumps) covering material from the Improver lessons.

 

 

 

 

Friday afternoons from 1.45 to 4.15pm with Will and Derrick from 5 February (to 26 March) 2010.

(Last held 10am Saturdays to 12 December 2009.)

Reverses, Transfers, the Unusual NT, Negative Doubles and other important conventions. Plus a card play tip and four practice hands with each chapter. Based on the book Intermediate Bridge.

The Intermediate lessons run for 8 weeks. Usually they are $95 ($80 for members), or $14 ($11 for members) a lesson. 

When held on Saturday mornings, we run instruction 10am - 11.55am for $10 ($8 members), then four play hands noon till 1pm for $10 ($8). Play more than one Saturday session (there is also a 1.30pm duplicate) and deduct $3 from the second (and third) sessions.

These topic-specific workshops are open to all who want to improve their bridge. Join us for the following:

Sunday 29 November, 10am to 4pm, with Tony Howes
 This course deals with aspects of directing needed to run the most basic sessions at club level, including Laws, Movements and Scoring. $50pp. At then end of the course, a take-home exam will be available to those wishing to become qualified as directors at Club Level ($33). Also suitable for players who would just like to know more about this side of the game.

Saturdays Noon to 1pm to 12 December 2009, and from 13 February 2010, with Will or Derrick.

Four hands each week, $8 members or $10 visitors. Come also for the 10am instruction (which is on the same themes as these hands - Intermediate to 12 Dec, and Advance Your Declarer Play from 13 Feb), or stay for the 1.30pm duplicate, and save $3 off the second (and third) session.

 

9.45am Wednesdays from 16 December.

Ideal for anyone who enjoyed the Improvers' course. Openings and responses, notrump bidding, slams, interposes and more, plus declarer play and defence! Normally each training session is $14, or $11 for members, but the Wednesdays will be training and play, at the usual play rate of $8/$10. A good chance to consolidate as you play.

 

Friday nights from 27 November. Back to basics! Suitable as a refresher, or an ideal opportunity to consolidate the material from beginner lessons with play, play, and more play of instructional hands designed to reinforce the knowledge you have been given as well as introducing some other valuable points.

Normally each training session is $14, or $11 for members, but the Friday nights will be training and play at the usual play rate of $10 (or $8 for members).

We only rarely run novice or beginner training so consider also other sessions that may suit you:

Mini Lessons are held before each of our supervised and intermediate play sessions. There is no extra charge for these short talks. Just the usual table money for the session.

Private lessons at any bridge level can also be arranged on request at rate of $80 per hour for groups of one to four people.
