Trumps Bridge Centre

We run a special offer on beginner lessons: five 2-hour lessons for just $59 (+ $1 if using credit card), with a practice session and textbook (Beginners' Bridge) included, as well as our "beginners' special" offer on membership. No experience necessary and you don't need a partner. As the leading teaching club, we have supervised sessions and lessons to continue the developing process and we now offer after-course Beginner Training.

Improvers course Fridays, 7.30pm to 9.45pm with Will Jenner-O'Shea from 30 July (to 17 Sept) 2010.

Ideal as a refresher or consolidation course, these lessons cover the most important issues for developers. How to make decisions; Stayman; Suit openings and Blackwood; Responder shifts; Rebids; Overcalls; Doubles; and Pre-empts. Plus a card play tip and four practice hands with each chapter.
8 weeks for $95 (or $80 for members), or $14 ($11 for members) a lesson.

 

Next daytime Improvers course: 1.30pm Tuesdays from 12 Oct (to 7 Dec).

 

There is also Improver training (9.45am Wednesdays at Trumps) covering material from the Improver lessons.

 

 

 

 

Intermediate Bridge Friday afternoons 1.45 to 4.15pm with Will from 30 July to 17 September. Topics:

Reverses, the Unusual NT, Negative Doubles, Transfers and other important conventions. Plus a card play tip and four practice hands with each chapter. Based on the book Intermediate Bridge.

The Intermediate lessons run for 8 weeks for $95 ($80 for members), or $14 ($11 for members) a lesson. 

These workshops are open to all who want to improve their bridge. Join us for the following:

•  Bidding and play workshop 12 September with Derrick. Lots of play hands. $25/$30 including lunch.

Price (unless otherwise specified): $30 includes lunch (members $25).

 

1.45pm-4.15pm Fridays from 24 September to 17 December.

Advancing Standard 24 Sep, Roman Keycard 1 Oct, Control bidding 8 Oct, training 15 Oct, Jacoby 2NT 22 Oct, Splinters 29 Oct, training 5 Nov, Fourth suit forcing 12 Nov, Checkback 19 Nov, Transfers to minors 26 Nov, training 3-17 December. With play hands including tips for declarer and defenders.

$11 members, $14 visitors for each session, or $120/$145 for all 13 weeks.

9.45am Wednesdays.

Ideal for anyone who likes a relaxed morning's bridge with some training (similar to material from the Improvers' course) and some play. Openings and responses, notrump bidding, slams, interposes and more, plus declarer play and defence! Normally each training session is $14, or $11 for members, but the Wednesdays will be training and play, at the usual play rate of $9/$11. A good chance to consolidate as you play.

 

10am Saturdays from 31 July. Back to basics! Suitable as a refresher, or an ideal opportunity to consolidate the material from beginner lessons with play, play, and more play of instructional hands designed to reinforce the knowledge you have been given as well as introducing some other valuable points.

Normally each training session is $14, or $11 for members, but the Saturday mornings will be training and play at no extra charge, just the usual play rate of $11, or $9 for members.

We only rarely run novice or beginner training but consider also other sessions that may suit you:

Mini Lessons are held before each of our supervised and intermediate play sessions. There is no extra charge for these short talks. Just the usual table money for the session.

Private lessons at any bridge level can also be arranged on request at rate of $80 per hour for groups of one to four people or $120 per hour for a group of eight people.

Kids' bridge lessons are held at most once a year, usually during school holidays. You can email us now if you have a group who are interested and we may be able to set up a course at a suitable time. These are normally very relaxed, play-based sessions but if there are kids or youth who tell us they would genuinely like to get into the theory, we can cater for that too.
